RACK FOCUS is a filmmaking competition for projects 10 minutes or less. It encourages creativity, networking and sense of community by offering opportunities to work with fellow industry professionals and providing a platform to showcase your movie projects at a local indie theatre.
(watch video here)

A pitch session will occur with various industry professionals attending: writers, directors, producers, actors, cinematographers, photographers, etc. The person interested in “spear-heading” their own project will have 2 minutes to pitch their idea to the room. The next person pitches, so on and so forth.

After pitches are complete, the session turns into a mixer with people approaching the spear-headers about working on their project.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJEPvHBOby4shapeimage_2_link_0

Everyone officially goes into production. They have 3 months to complete their film. There are no limitations of storyline, genre or content. All competitors are encouraged to make their project as creative and professional as you’d like them to be.

All projects must be 10 minutes or less and must be turned in before the deadline. All projects that are over 10 minutes in length or turned in after the deadline will be disqualified and not screened.

All completed projects will be screened as a part of the RACK FOCUS FILM SHOWCASE at at a local indie theatre.

All audience members will be given ratings cards to fill out throughout the screenings.

Each film will be followed by a talk-back with the cast & crew of each project.

An awards ceremony will follow with cash prizes!
RACK FOCUS can be that extra kick-in-the-pants to get people creative again. It can give motivation for people who’ve become discouraged with the lack of projects. It can ignite that competitive energy and the best part - you can win MONEY!

“There isn’t any work in Dallas.”
“I don’t know other people in the industry.”
“I need a make-up person! I need a cinematographer!”
“I’ve always wanted to screen my film to a packed theatre.”
“I’d love to be a part of a film project but I don’t know how.”
“I’d love to make money by doing what I love.”

RACK FOCUS can only happen with community effort.
We will need volunteers with organizing events, pitch sessions - help with spreading the word on social media and beyond - contacts with talent agencies, theatres, sponsors, product placement, especially business-minds to help with details and many other things.
